Zuki Japanese Hibachi Grill & Sushi Lounge

We went there for lunch, and we were not disappointed. They had a lot of great choices, the Sushi menu was extensive to say the least. And hibachi was perfect! The shaft at a wonderful job of entertaining and cooking everything just like we like it. Fortunately for us it was not overcrowded, and it really was very accommodating. It was a great place to have a celebration for her birthday. Or just an average place to go for dinner. But either way if you show up here you’re not gonna be disappointed with anything you get.

We received great service from Kalyia and Zach and yo yo! Yo yo was really funny while cooking our food. Zach was pushing through a busy day. Kalyia checked on us a lot too which was nice. The food was all really good and fills you up! I loved the scallops and my friends say the steak is the best they get anywhere! Will definitely be back!

Made a reservation for a birthday dinner 2 days in advance. When we got there, they did not have a table set up for us. They were not busy at all. Waited 15+ minutes past our reservation time only to be sat at one of the hibachi show tables that we did not want. Took an extra 10+ minutes just to be sat at a regular table. There were people seated at 2 of the other hibachi show tables, but the rest of the restaurant with the regular tables was completely empty. We sat there for so long and no one ever came to greet us, take drink orders, etc. A member of our party had to go find a waitress who said that no one told her she had a table (when other members of our party had arrived earlier, they said they were here for a party and the hostess told them where we were). The waitress was very friendly, but she couldn't answer any questions we had (if sake was hot or cold, which sushi rolls could come with which meals, etc). She couldn't remember anything we told her and had to ask us to repeat our drink orders several times each. She didn't know how to ring in anything we ordered. She completely forgot to ring in 2 people's orders and when she finally did, both of the orders were wrong. Our appetizers came out AFTER our meals and one of the items was so extremely hot that it burnt sores on 2 peoples' tongues and now I cannot taste anything. Went to the Zuki downtown several months ago and it was a great experience with no issues.

Met a friend for lunch here today. Staff was attentive and quick. Started with a salad for me, and soup for my friend. My salad was OK, very watery at the bottom. I ordered a salmon topped sushi roll. It tasted good but the salmon didn't look fresh like it does at Domo. The hibachi show was cute. Good but nothing special. I ordered the shrimp with calamari lunch combo. My friend got the teriyaki steak lunch. Both our meals were delicious. The calamari was cooked perfectly. Tender, not chewy at all. We both got a huge portion. Combined with the rice and vegetables, it was 2 or 3 meals easily. Overall an enjoyable meal.

I am only posting this in hopes that the owner will see it and take immediate action. I have been coming to Zuki since the Nagasaki days. For about 10 years I had come in twice a week. Today was my first visit in MONTHS and the ONLY reason I came in today was because my mom bought me a gift card for Christmas. Now I will explain why. Just imagine for a second that a woman would be so disrespectful to her man that she will leave a bad taste in the entire city of Evansvilles mouths and ruin her boyfriends business and reputation the way that Mel has and continues to do. This owner has built an empire that he should be so proud of. The food is amazing and so if the staff. The staff is so fabulous that my kids and I always get seated and then I go make rounds to give them hugs. This particular woman knows she can do what she wants, providing the most poor customer service, disrespect her co workers and her customers to no end. First she will come take our order and while I’m ordering, she will interrupt me by sticking her finger in my face so she can respond to her text messages. This happens every single visit. Everyone in the restaurant has to sit there for 2 hours chasing down other servers to simply get 1 single refill. Then we have to beg to pay so we can finally get out of there. This is not ok. Today I went in during lunch just so I can avoid having her as a server. The service I had today was amazing because I had a server that did her job and was so kind and polite to the whole habachi table. It’s not fair to the rest of the staff that they have to do her job for her and apologize while she collects the tips. Mr owner, I’m telling you now that I talked to my customers all day yesterday about this gift card and they ALL said the same thing about this business. Your girlfriend is ruining it. You may love her, the rest of us want to love your restaurant again.

Nice entertainment. Food is average; the same as every hibachi, nothing extraordinary. The dressing in the salad was a sesame dressing, it was ok; some of the lettuce was past its freshness. The black eel sushi was inconsistent, the first two slices were very fishy tasting, the rest were ok. The shrimp lacked seasoning. The garlic dip cup was ok. The rice and veggies were average. The wall waterfalls were nice. The wait staff was attentive and kept refills coming throughout the meal. My child ordered noodles and we did not get them. $107.09 for three drinks, hibachi and one sushi. For me it was expensive for an average meal.
